Hi guys! One thing I learned from my reader survey is that almost 50 percent of respondents have only been reading my blog a couple of months or less, so to unbury some of my posts from the early days (2012-13) that you might find useful, I’m dedicating a whole post to the oldies but goodies you may have missed on this sunny Friday! The formatting wasn’t as consistent and the pics weren’t as big in my old posts, but the information may be of interest to you!
Let’s do this!
From the archives: Some oldies but goodies
Since many of you are new(ish) around these parts, I’m digging up some old posts from my early Oui In France days when I was just starting to figure things out — both about France and with blogging. So if you’re procrastinating at work or just have some time to kill, I’d be delighted if you checked these oldies but goodies out. Enjoy!
P.S. It was actually really fun for me to go back through my old stuff!

What a great idea! And a great way to archive in one spot all your useful tips and experience. I currently have a bunch of tabs open to read some of them. Can’t wait to read about the noises french people make! hahaha

Glad you are enjoying a look back in this post, Lillian. 😉 Figured it’s a good post for Friday if people have a little time to kill. My husband is en route to his ski week. I showed him your video and he loved it. Hope he has snow!

Hi Diane, I’ve missed your blog for a few weeks, came back today and realised I had missed a lot: you’ve been busy :-)!!
Also enjoyed this archive “best of” especially the one about how to look French. The 2 girls were hilarious and I can particularly relate to the various sound effects French people make: I’ve won a number of arguments against my hubby this way 😀
Also I am always shocked coming back how stylish my compatriots look compared to the Brits (I live in the UK). However I soon remember how I always felt like the odd one out: I prefer bright colours and French style can also come off as very conformist. Give be British quirkiness any day!
Taking of which: I saw a documentary called “Jonathan Meades on France” years ago on the BBC. The 3rd episode called “Go home yankee – but take me with you” (!) explored the influence American culture has had on France. His style takes some getting used to but he’s very witty and insightful (sometimes that’s a bit hard to take from a French point of view). You can find it on Youtube. Sorry that’s very off-topic but hopefully you will find it interesting!
PS: missed your survey too so thank you and good luck with the blog. I like the way it is evolving along with your life.
PS2: no skiing for you?
