Hi there! Coming to you from Brittany! Tom, Dagny and I are in the Morbihan region of Brittany this weekend for a little R&R (his birthday present to me) and despite the rainy weather, we’re enjoying ourselves. The house we rented has a fireplace, a nice little yard and a whole lot of charm. It’s also really central to all kinds of fun hikes, markets and other tourist attractions. Something about Brittany during the off-season makes me happy. I’ve always been a fan of the beach in the winter.
So here’s a look at our weekend!

Before I kick this post off, I just want to say my heart goes out to everyone involved in the horrific Charlie Hebdo terrorist attack in Paris. This isn’t a political blog and I’m not going into my thoughts surrounding what happened. But I will tell you the country is shaken and wounded and I feel for everyone involved. My heart aches for those who were killed, those who knew the deceased and have to press forward without them and those who saw too much and will never forget. Our eyes can’t unsee. But France is a country of kind, generous people who will help each other to get through this difficult time. That I know. May the victims rest in peace. #jesuischarlie

For today’s post, I’m sharing a few Brittany France pictures you might have seen floating around Instagram from the Morbihan region of Brittany. I don’t know who loves trips like this more — me and Tom or Dagny. She loves hiking and even tries to find the yummy-smelling fish in the ocean by going in even though it’s cool outside and the water is even cooler. Brittany is beautiful and I love it in the winter even if it does rain a lot. I love the regional products you can find in the little shops, the rugged beaches and even the traditional-style homes. Brittany never gets old.
The department of Morbihan, in northwest France, is the only department in France whose name is derived from the Breton language. It’s known for the Carnac stones, which are actually older than Stonehenge. One of the draws here is the Gulf of Morbihan which has about 40 islands, some owned by the rich and famous.
