It’s a good day when something arrives in the mail that’s not a bill! A few weeks ago I had one of those days when a special package arrived from L’Esprit Francais, a new gift box concept. If you’re a Paris lover, then listen up because this post is for you!
GO!
L’Esprit Francais gift box review
You only have to visit Paris once to realize it’s a magical city. The sights, the eats, the fashion, oh la la! If the City of Light is one of your faves, you’re going to love what L’Esprit Francais sent me a few weeks ago to check out. The gift box arrived beautifully packaged on my doorstep and I was eager to see what was inside.
But first, a little about L’Esprit Francais.
They’re a company all about discovering the French lifestyle through authentically French gift boxes which are based on the art of French living. The box I received is a Paris-themed collection of handpicked items that represent each of the senses including taste, smell, touch and more. Each box also has a “smart” code that you scan with your smartphone to discover more about the contents of the box.
Keep in mind that the L’Esprit Francais gift box is not a subscription service. While they will have different editions, each luxury box is available for order on their website and is not a recurring monthly shipment. You can stay up to date with upcoming releases here on their site.
OK, so back to the box.
You can find a little guide showing you what’s in the box on the back of the exterior packaging, but I wanted to be surprised and quickly put that aside. I was like a little kid on Christmas morning carefully unpacking each item.
Here’s what’s in the L’Esprit Francais “Parisianism” gift set box that I received:
- Paris postcard
- Paris city guide
- Handmade notebook
- Black canvas tote bag
- Scented votive candle
- Pop up card
- 2 dark chocolate bars
- Patriotic bracelet
The box itself is expertly designed and has a sleek, modern feel with the Eiffel Tower on the front. Several of the items are branded just for L’Esprit Francais including the notebook and tote bag.
The dark chocolate bars jumped out at me right away because of their bright color and design. I loved the poodle! Luckily they taste as good as they look!
The candle was a surprise and from just looking at the box, I wasn’t sure if it was a perfume or what exactly. I took it out of its packaging and soon discovered it was a gorgeous little candle that’s now making its home in my bathroom.
The city guide was also a nice touch for those of us physically in Paris and in need of locals’ tips on the best places to visit. Thorough and complete with beautiful imagery, the guide is a keeper for the next time I’m in Paris.
Here’s a closer look at a few of the other items:
Where to buy
On their site! All purchase info can be found on the L’Esprit Francais website along with more about the items inside. Each box costs 60 euros and they do deliver to the United States. In addition to buying the box, you can also buy many of the items separately on their website here. Right now, L’Esprit Francais is working on partnering with hotels to make their gift sets available to guests. I’d be thrilled to receive this box upon checking into a hotel after a long flight!
So francophiles, maybe you want to start your holiday gift list a little early. 🙂 And if you can’t wait that long, it makes a nice gift you can give to yourself — as well as a Paris-loving friend or family member.
Bottom line
L’Esprit Francais gift sets are beautifully curated and packaged and I feel they’d make a much-appreciated gift for a France-loving friend in your life and would be a welcome surprise upon checking into a hotel or a France river cruise. I’m excited to see all the future editions that L’Esprit Francais comes out with!

What a gorgeous box of stylish gifts, I’d be thrilled if someone bought me one but at €60 I don’t think that’ll happen anytime soon.
I am coming your way soon, (I think you live fairly near Nantes?) please tell me the weather is good.
Bonne semaine.
xx

Hi Fiona, yup I’m in the Maine et Loire! Weather was great this weekend about 70F and sunny, so let’s hope it stays that way! The box really is worth the little splurge, so maybe put it on your Christmas list. 😉 Have a great trip!
