Last month, I put out 2 wine-focused videos over on my YouTube channel. I had the pleasure of spending the day out in the Vouvray appellation with Cathy of Le Tasting Room and Peter Hahn of Le Clos de la Meslerie. Cathy, along with her husband Nigel, run a top-notch wine tour business out nears Tours, France, and Peter is an organic winemaker whose unique process is worthy of 10 videos. Let’s watch!
Spending the day with an organic winemaker and wine expert (VIDEO)
There’s so much that goes into making wine that the average consumer never sees and might not even know about. What makes a wine organic and is it better? To help shed some light on the wine making process and educate us on Loire Valley wine, I sat down with Cathy Henton of Le Tasting Room. If you’ve been a reader of mine for a while, then she’s no stranger to you. I’ve interviewed Cathy here and here.
We talk about sulfites, wine buzzwords like natural and biodynamic wines, and how to choose a “good” bottle.
Behind the scenes at an organic Vouvray winery
Now for video 2. I first met Peter Hahn last year at the Salons des Vins in Angers and he graciously allowed me to visit his property and make the following video. In it, we learn about his interesting wine making process including why and how he uses a horse on his vines (plus we spoke to the horse specialist), that his wines listen to Mozart while in the barrel, and his philosophy on organic farming!
