If you were to think of two things that dogs love the most, what comes to mind? Going on walks and food, right? Treats, in particular, are one of Dagny’s favorite things and today I’m going to share with you Dagny’s picks for the best dog treats.
Continue on!
Let me start off by saying that I do feel nutrition is important and that you shouldn’t overload your dog with treats. That being said, they’ve been an indispensable training tool for us and something Dagny truly enjoys. I try my best to feed Dagny only high-quality treats — there’s no sense in overloading your dog with the equivalent of candy bars.
How do I get our best dog treats to France? I buy them at pet stores online and have really kind friends and family ship them to me.
Without further ado, here are Dagny’s top four picks for the best dog treats:
1. Stella & Chewy’s Carnivore Kisses Freeze-Dried Angus Raw Beef Treats
If you only feed your dog a raw diet (and even if you don’t), these freeze-dried treats will soon become your dog’s favorite. These Stella & Chewy’s dog treats make Dagny go nuts and I have to hide them in the pantry or she’ll jump on the table to get them. These 100% premium meat treats are naturally freeze-dried and made with meat from USDA-inspected facilities. You won’t find any grain, fillers, added hormones or antibiotics here.
2. Zuke’s Mini Naturals
Zuke’s Minis are extra tiny and are perfect for big and small dogs alike. At only two calories each, you won’t feel guilty spending a few extra minutes teaching your dog a new trick. They’re made without artificial colors, flavors and by-products and also come in salmon and chicken flavors. Yum!
3. Cloud Star Buddy Biscuits Soft & Chewy
These take the award for the cutest dog treats. Shaped like little gingerbread men, they can be broken into pieces for smaller dogs or given whole if your dog does something extra deserving. Soft and corn-free, these treats come in a variety of yummy flavors and many are low-fat, too. Dagny hasn’t met a flavor she didn’t like…
4. Blue Buffalo
These little square salmon treats help promote healthy joints, support heart health and the immune system and are free of animal by-products to boot. They’re also made without corn, wheat or soy and are free of artificial colors, preservatives and flavors. You may want to get two bags! Dagny loves the chicken flavor too.
Dog treats have a healthy place in your dog’s life, but keep in mind that there a lot of unhealthy ones out there. Be your dog’s advocate and read the ingredients!
Do I flip out if a neighbor gives Dagny a Milkbone they picked up at the grocery store? No. Balance is key. You have to live a little, right? Besides, I’ve been known to go to the McDonald’s drive-thru every now and again…
