It’s like a ghost town around here and as we head into August, my town will empty out even more. We don’t pass as many dogs on the street during the day and attendance was most certainly down at my classes at the gym. The French love taking off for 2 or 3 weeks over the summer and that’s awesome. But one place where there’s a lot going on? My backyard. Or jardin, if you want to be French.
GO!
Summer in France
I do not have a green thumb. At all. I can pull up weeds from around the yard and trim bushes, but plant flowers and actually make sure they live? Well, let’s just say that’s not my specialty. But I still really enjoy the fancy flowers in my yard even if I have no clue what they’re called.
We haven’t been in our house a year yet and each week brings a new flowery surprise out back. The previous owner must have really enjoyed flowers as well and each week it seems like a new tree or bush blooms with something new and colorful. This week? These lovely coral-colored ones greet Dagny each morning as she goes out to do her business.
And before that? These purple weeds (I think).
Last but not least, these cream-colored blooms were gorgeous.
And remember my pesky neighborhood cat problem? Well, the one cat still comes to visit but seems to have stopped pooping in the yard. Dagny is still on cat watch though.
Hope summer is treating you well. And maybe Frenchify your summer if you haven’t already by taking some much-needed vacay. Bonne journée!

Hibiscus, possibly periwinkle, some type of rose?

Thank you for your expertise. 😉 I just say “the orange ones” and the “purple ones.” Glad the previous owner knew how to plant pretty things.
