As I sat here applying some lotion to dry skin the other night, I realized that half the ingredients on the back of the bottle were impossible to pronounce and decided it was time to get on board with Ava Anderson Non-Toxic. The company is one I’d heard of through a colleague at work that makes a line of safe (really!) skin care products.
Why should you care?
Because the ingredients in the products you know and love aren’t doing you any favors. In fact, they’re probably harming your health in ways you don’t even know about.
Did you know that out of the 10,500 ingredients used in personal care products, only 11 percent of those chemicals have been tested for health and safety?? I hope this doesn’t sit well with you. That’s just the beginning. But first, some info about Ava Anderson Non-Toxic.
Ava Anderson Non-Toxic was founded in 2009 when Ava was still in high school. They make a line of SAFE personal care products that are gluten-free and non-toxic and pride themselves on providing wellness information, while exposing the dangers of toxic chemicals in products so many of us use on a daily basis.
Why am I so passionate about Ava Anderson Non-Toxic? Because I wholeheartedly believe in what they stand for.
As someone who was diagnosed with a bizarre allergy as an adult, I have to be extra careful with what food products I consume and what I apply to my skin. I’ve learned the hard way many times, as many so called natural skin care companies don’t always disclose what’s in a product. Consumers shouldn’t have to sift through 20 hard to pronounce ingredients before determining if a product is safe. Ava Anderson also never tests on animals.
Another reason I’m so passionate about Ava Anderson Non-Toxic is because this brand just makes sense to me. Let me explain. I am the type that tries to think about things rationally. If you’re going to smoke, go tanning and dabble in sky diving from time to time, maybe you shouldn’t speed, do drugs or live in a highly polluted city. It’s all about minimizing your risk.
Next, I realize it’s nearly impossible to use products that don’t contain any questionable ingredients at all. Our lives are busy and sometimes it’s easier to use a big brand you find at the grocery store. I get it. But this goes back to my above point – it’s about minimizing risk. So if you can replace your favorite lipsticks with safe cosmetics instead, why wouldn’t you? Protect yourself and your family. Can you afford not to?
In a world where so many things are out of our control, why would you take an unnecessary risk with something that is 100 percent within your power?
Deciding what you put on your skin and what you use in your household is entirely in your control.
Specifically, I’m referring to makeup, moisturizers, sunscreens and products you use to clean your home. Effective products that are completely natural make sense to me. We’re all too familiar with products that claim to be natural yet contain only a handful of natural ingredients.
I’m talking about products that are actually good for you and do what they say they’ll do without exposing you to unnecessary risks. That’s what Ava Anderson Non-Toxic is all about.
What kinds of risks? Consider these facts.
- 1,342 toxic chemicals have been banned in Europe. Only 9 toxic chemicals have been banned in the US.
- Since the skin is our largest organ, it is more dangerous to put junk on your skin because it goes right into the bloodstream vs. what you eat because that gets detoxified by the body.
- Adults have, on average, 485 chemicals in their blood.
- Babies are being born with over 280 chemicals in their cord blood (Red Cross, 2004).
- Manufacturers can legally hide 600+ chemicals in the word FRAGRANCE without listing them on the ingredient label.
Are you horrified yet?
Some might say well what’s the problem? My favorite products are made by a big company and are widely available, so they must be safe. I’ve never had an adverse reaction, so why should I care about Ava Anderson Non-Toxic skin care? There are worse things in the world to worry about. My response is:
Do you really want to take a gamble on your health when the choice of what products you use is 100 percent in your control?
Let me be clear. Ava Anderson Non-Toxic products aren’t made up of a few natural ingredients here and there. Her entire line of products consists of ingredients that are natural, gluten free and SAFE. Look up your faves here on the cosmetics database and see what’s lurking just a pump, squeeze or puff away: http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/
I used Coppertone Spray sunscreen religiously last summer. The EWG sunscreen database gives it a failing grade — with enough toxins to make me want to never buy it again.
How I got involved with Ava Anderson Non-Toxic
I recently became an Ava consultant to help spread the word. While many consultants hold in-home parties and other events to promote, I’m not able to since I’m based in France and Ava is only available in the United States for now. I personally don’t have a problem with jewelry, candles or any other type of party. It’s fun to buy yourself a little treat from time to time.
The difference with Ava Anderson Non-Toxic is that you need what Ava has to offer.
Why? Because after you look up what’s in your skin care products, you’ll be unable to ignore what you’re reading. Toxins, toxins and more toxins.
So what does Ava Anderson Non-Toxic offer? Here’s a short list of some of the products available: a baby line, skin care line, cosmetics, sun products, household cleaners and more.
Speaking of costs, Ava Anderson Non-Toxic is not ridiculously expensive. Sure, the product line might cost a little more than your grocery store brand, but in my eyes, it’s worth it knowing that the cream I’m slathering on won’t contribute to possible health issue later on.
If we don’t protect our bodies, who will? And without a healthy body, what’s left?
So what am I hoping to accomplish in this post?
My aim here is to open your eyes. I encourage you to browse Ava’s site here and learn about the product line. Look at the ingredients in your everyday products as well and look up what’s exactly in them here on the EWG Cosmetics Database.
At the very least, I hope you’ll educate yourself about the dangers of the things we use every day without thinking twice.
If you like what you’re seeing on Ava Anderson’s site and want to place an order, I’d be so grateful if you used my link. Yes, in an effort to fully disclose, I do get a percentage of the sale as a consultant. If you’re a like-minded individual and want to learn more, contact me. I’d love to Skype with you.
I’m also hoping that you’ll have a wake up call. After learning about what’s lurking in my everyday products, I sure did.
Tell me, do you know what’s really in the products that you’re using on yourself and your family?
Questions? Comments? Want to get involved? Contact me and we’ll talk.

Hello,
I am tempted to try some of their products, but their e-shop seems to ship to USA only. Is there any way for Europeans to buy it?
Diane says
Hi there, yes for now Ava is only able to ship to the US. I ship things to myself after they’re delivered to my US address. Hopefully they’ll have international shipping in the future!
